On the mend now!

July didn't start so well for Springer Spaniels Bow and Jessie. Both presented with fractures of their elbow joints in the first week of July.

Fractures of the lateral part of the condyle can be challenging especially where there are unhelpful additional little fragments in important places. Meticulous attention to detail is required to make sure the elbow fits together perfectly after rebuild.

Fortunately standard AO bone plate and screw technique saved the day. Both 'spangles' well on the way to recovery at their follow up assessments.

Tee for Two.

Bunny the Chiahuahua and Trixie the Toy Poodle were unlucky enough to sustain identical fractures of their lower forearms over the Christmas holidays.

Notoriously tricky to repair, the short bone fragments just above their wrists offer very little space to place implants, whilst fractures of the tiny thin shafts of the radial bones have a reputation for failing to heal.

Fortunately, the miniaturised T-shaped locking plate from DePuy-Synthes is just the implant for the task. Now both Bunny and Trixie are fully mended and back in action.
